Laptops

The shoulder-strap on my laptop bag came undone yesterday as I was slinging it over my shoulder. Bag fell down, went boom. The corner of my laptop was kind of bashed up, even with all the bag's padding. When I turned it on, it was obviously still running the apps I'd left open when I'd put it to sleep before, but the display was blank.

Uh-oh.

Luckily, putting it to sleep again and waking it back up seemed to fix it, and it seems to be running okay now. But I don't fully trust it. Oh well. I was looking for an excuse to upgrade anyways.

So over lunch yesterday, I walked into the Apple store. I walked back out five minutes later with a new 17" powerbook. Setting up the new laptop was 90% just plugging the old laptop into it with a firewire cable, saying "Super-size me," and waiting an hour and a half for it to do its migration voodoo.

Today I found out I'm getting a bonus at work that will more than pay for it, too.

Score!

Will AppleCare take care of the old laptop too?

Dropped laptops aren't covered by Applecare, sadly.
