I'm melting! Mellltinnnnng!

For some reason, the corner of the building I'm in at Work seems to have broken Air Conditioning. I can walk two dozen feet down the hall and be in blessed coolness, but right in my cube... It's currently 86.4ºF, according to my clock thermometer.

Guh.

That sounds like my corner of where I work. We have microclimates in the office, I swear.

our building uses a system of HVAC where only the forced air coming from the units are enclosed. The return air is pulled up thru the tiles and the entire above tile area 'breaths'.

Lucky people have 2 'vent' openings in their office and get decent temps. Unlucky have only a uptake vent. They have to depend on cool air flowing in from the vents in the hall.

A few very unlucky people ended up in a corner that was 'remodelled' by somebody who had no clue how the system worked and the above tile space was completely isolated from the rest of the above tile spaces and the air uptake of the master chilllers.

Cool air would come out of the vents, hit the floor, and then run screamming down the halls til it found someplace where it could get past the blocked hot air mass in that area.

Tssk, tssk! what happened to all your good desert upbringing? It just sounds like it's getting pleasant. You've been working around computers too long.

Well, actually, that's part of the problem. I do work with computers too much. Especially laptops. Which get hot to touch under their keyboards, and that heat rises through the keyboard. And I don't really have the option of not typing. :)

Add that to the general heat in my cube and the higher–than–desert humidity, and it's all no fun to spend all day in.

But I fixed the problem yesterday. I bought an oscillating fan for my cube, and things are much nicer now.

I agree..
86 degrees is floating arround perfect for me.

S'like a cool desert day.

Any colder and my RL bat-like self starts to suffer arround low seventies.

Hey, I like being a lite-weight, but 119 pounds is almost... cartoon-esque and exagerated.

Ahh, well. I live in south carolina. It's hot like california, only it's a wet, jungle heat instead of a dry heat. Wanna visit sometime? The swamps are nice.
