So long and thanks for all the cycles

The server wizard of FurryMuck, S'A'Alis, retired a couple weeks ago. The upshot of this is that FurryMuck will soon be moving to a new, much faster machine, administrated by Tugrik, my house-mate. The move will happen within the next few of weeks.

This is actually almost a bit spooky to me.

I originally put together the new machine for testing the FuzzBall 6 Muck server with a copy of the FurryMuck database. Now it's going to be running the real FM.

Some years back, I was running a FuzzBall 5 test server on a machine at utoronto.edu, using FM's database for stress testing. The original FM's machine at the time went away suddenly, making the test machine and test DB become the real FM.

My test machines seem to keep ending up being the real things. Bizarre.

I was beginning to wonder where FM was going to end up.

Will we be running FuzzBall 6, or does more work still need to be done on that version?

It's planned to run FM under FB6, yes.

What machine would be better suited for the real thing? :)
