A friend passes

I heard today that Gerald Perkins died.

I cannot tell you how sad hearing this makes me. I admit I cried tonight, thinking of him.

He was always a friendly face at the local conventions, and was ready with all sorts of stories to tell about his latest world–building and story-writing ideas. He was fun to just shoot the breeze with, bouncing around ideas and what-ifs and jokes. I used to go his house occasionally, for role-playing groups and such, and he had an amazing selection of art that he'd collected as well.

He was a wonderful fellow, and he will be sorely missed.

This is a sad thing. I've known Gerald for while but not very much more than on a casual basis as our paths would cross at conventions and parties every so often; he was a bright man who was surprisingly fun to talk to. I know that I'll miss seeing him around Bay Area conventions where he has been a constant presence--almost a fixture--for as long as I can remember.

This has hit Baron and I very hard. Gerry was a close friend. Last I heard BayCon was planing a momorial to him at the show. Had a loooong talk wiht Monika last night on the phone that I think did us both good. I'm still waiting to her from the family on services and such.

No, I knew him only in person. I don't think he had a muck account.
